Ski/Snowboard Patrol

The Winter Ski/Snowboard Patroller delivers frontline guest safety and medical response, terrain and feature risk management, and operational support to ensure a safe, welcoming, and efficient on‑hill experience. This role delivers emergency medical response, risk mitigation, terrain management, and public education within a dynamic, high-performance winter sport setting. Operating within a high-traffic, urban ski facility that supports public recreation, competitive training, arenas, and events, the Patroller plays a critical role in injury response, hazard prevention, and operational readiness. As a Patroller, you strive to approach your work to align with our 6 values which are at the core of who we are and what we do at WinSport. * Safety * Sustainability * Integrity * Belonging * Collaboration * Inspiration WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING: Emergency Medical Response and Patient Care * Provide first aid and emergency care in accordance with certification level. * Manage scene safety, patient assessment, stabilization, packaging, and toboggan transport; transfer of care * Maintain accurate incident documentation and reporting. * Protect confidentiality and maintain professionalism with guests. Emergency Preparedness and Lift Evacuation * Maintain readiness for lift evacuations (training, gear checks, team drills, assignments). * Inspect and maintain patrol gear (packs, radios, oxygen, splints, AED readiness, toboggans). * Participate in drills (lift evac, severe weather, missing person/child, fire/evacuation, multi‑casualty) and after‑action reviews. * Monitor, record, and report on all emergency equipment including AED’s, medical supplies, first aid kits, and emergency call box systems. Terrain Safety and Risk Control * Perform open/close procedures: morning trail checks, hazard sweeps, feature verification, fencing/bamboo/rope lines, padding, and end‑of‑day sweeps. * Maintain and adjust signage (trail status, slow zones, park ratings, features, closures, hazards, code/responsibility). * Monitor terrain park features with Trail Crew (speed, landings, lips, traffic flow), recommending changes for risk reduction while preserving experience. * Implement temporary controls for changing conditions (ice, melt/freeze, thin cover, heavy traffic, event overlaps). * Support event safety planning and field execution (course access, spectator controls, emergency routes). * Ensure compliance with departmental and corporate safety and operational policies, procedures, and practices. Guest Interaction and Education * Serve as on‑slope ambassadors: model safe behaviors, answer questions, and provide directional assistance. * Promote Alpine Responsibility Code and SMART park etiquette. * De-escalate conflicts or unsafe behaviors professionally. * Enforce conduct standards with fair, consistent interventions; escalate to supervisor when needed. Communication and Coordination * Maintain constant radio discipline and clear, concise updates during incidents and sweeps. * Liaise with Lift Ops, Trail Crew, and for hazard fixes and operational changes. * Provide situational reports to supervisor and contribute to daily operations discussions. Documentation and Reporting * Complete accurate incident and patient care records; mark precise locations and conditions. * Identify patterns and trends (hot spots, conditions, behaviors) and suggest practical improvements. * Support OHS investigations for serious incidents and participate in corrective action verification. WHAT YOU BRING: * Must be over 18 years of age * Minimum of 80hr Advanced First Aid certification is required (must be valid and current). * 80hr Wilderness First Responder certification is an asset * Non-Urban Emergency Care (NUEC) certification is an asset. * CPR-C with AED certification. * Valid class 5 driver’s license and a clean 3-year driver’s abstract * Previous patrol experiences an asset. * Previous snowmobile operating experience as an asset. EMPLOYMENT DATES & TIMES: * This is a seasonal contract starting in October and concluding in April (weather dependent). * Must be available for mandatory training dates October 26, 2026 - November 2, 2026 * Generally, 12-hour shifts with some variation based on operational needs. YOU WILL BE: * Work Environment: * Environmental exposures may involve: Extreme cold, hot, wet and/or humid weather, sunlight, wind, hail, among others. * Other exposures may include Infectious diseases, needle-stick injuries and inherent risks of skiing, snowboarding, and mountain biking, among others. * May be required to be outside for up to 100% of time on shift. * High guest interaction; exposure to distressing incidents. * Physical Demands: * This is a physically demanding position due to the nature of skiing, snowboarding, mountain biking, and the practice of remote extrication. * Lifting no more than 125lbs with frequent lifting and/or carrying objects weighing up to 50lbs. * May be required to stand for periods up to 4 hours. * Constant kneeling, bending and twisting. The Ski/Snowboard Patroller provides frontline emergency medical response, patient care, and terrain risk management to ensure guest safety. They are responsible for performing trail checks, lift evacuations, and maintaining emergency equipment while serving as on-slope ambassadors.

Candidates must be over 18 years of age and hold a valid minimum 80-hour Advanced First Aid certification along with CPR-C and AED certification. A valid class 5 driver’s license and the ability to perform physically demanding tasks in extreme weather conditions are required.
